The object in context
The Autrique House dates from 1893. Its restoration and scenography make it a useful companion to Horta’s later house: look for developing ideas rather than treating the two buildings as interchangeable.
Try this when you look
Choose one threshold, one stair and one wall surface. Describe how each affects your movement or attention. Compare your notes with the Horta Museum without trying to declare a “better” house.
Before you visit
The current Autrique website explains the house and practical arrangements. Its historic campaign story about floor traces belongs to a restoration context, not to a treasure hunt visitors should attempt by touching surfaces.
