The object in context
The 2016 catalogue includes Pierre Alechinsky’s Drive Cobra. The museum’s educational dossier helps distinguish the painting’s title from the history of CoBrA: Alechinsky joined the movement in 1949, while the group’s organised activity lasted from 1948 to 1951. Those dates do not automatically supply this painting’s creation date.
Try this when you look
Compare a central area with its surrounding marks or boundaries in an authenticated image. Record where your eye enters, where it changes direction and where you find repetition. Read the museum dossier afterwards to separate your observation from a broader account of Alechinsky’s painting and printmaking.
Before you visit
The recovered dossier is a historical teaching resource, not a current exhibition schedule. Its text and illustrations retain their publishers’ rights; our note is newly written. For this work, check Ixelles Museum’s record for Cobra de transmission (1968, inventory CC 1591) and its reopening notice before planning a visit.
